DANIEL COOPER

Daniel Cooper has been working in stone since the age of fourteen. He grew up in the small cathedral city of Ripon, where his mother took him on his school holidays to the local stone yard of Frank Marshall, previous master mason of Ripon Cathedral, for work experience. At the age of sixteen he undertook a four year apprenticeship in the stone yard and remained there for seven years. Daniel has worked on numerous English Heritage sites, including: Fountains Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey. He has also worked in Ireland for three years, restoring an Irish tower house castle in County Cork. Daniels preferred medium is Elterwater slate. He also works in Creamy white bath limestone and Irish blue Kilkenny limestone.
