DAVID BEER


David Beer was born in Kent and spent fifteen years as a teacher in Wiltshire before moving to St Ives in 1986. He taught in Penzance for a time but now devotes himself to painting and running his own gallery. Before the opening of Tate Gallery he was co-ordinator of the education working party for the St Ives Tate Action Group. David first became captivated by St Ives while attending residential courses at the St Ives School of Painting. He now lives in the town and paints landscapes, mainly of St Ives. He is also becoming more widely known for his nudes, which he exhibits in this Country and Nantucket in the USA. His paints in oils, pastels and acrylic. He has exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy, the Salthouse Gallery, the Penwith Gallery and the Newlyn Art Gallery, St Ives, The Wykeham Galleries, Stockbridge. Greg Rusedski has recently purchased one of his nude paintings.
