PENNY MCLEAN

Penny studied at Edinburgh College of Art for four years in the 60ís, under the guidance of Sir William Gillies and Sir Robin Phillipson, specialising in Drawing and Painting . Following this she spent a further year at Manchester College of Art. After several years teaching art full time she went on to teach in adult education while at the same time developing her own work. Penny has shown in mixed exhibitions in the Ferens Gallery, Hull, Usher Gallery, Lincoln, The Art Gallery, Scarborough as well as a solo exhibition in Scunthorpe. Her painting style is influenced by her early exposure to Scottish painting and she has long admired the work of Joan Eardley. Her love of colour, texture, expressive brushwork and the natural rhythms of the landscape is strongly reflected in her work. Her paintings can be found in private collections in England, France and Mallorca.
